Course Outline
-Each unit will include informational, argument, and creative writing.

Grading Policy
- Long-Term Assignments (Portfolio pieces, short answer responses) 30%
- Tests/Quizzes 30%
- Classwork/Participation 20%
- Homework 20%
Homework and Classwork Policy
-Written classwork will be assigned daily.
-Homework will be assigned twice a week in order to help students practice a learned skill or prepare for an upcoming lesson. Classwork will be graded in notebooks once a week. Homework will be graded the day after it is due.

5 Quality and effort was above and beyond expectations and was handed in on time. Attention to detail,
thoughtful, and thorough in all aspects of the assignment. The presentation of the assignment showed a high degree of care and effort.
4 The assignment was completed according to the directions and was handed in on time. An effort was made in
all aspects of the assignment. The presentation of the assignment showed an appropriate level of care and effort.
3 The assignment was completed on time. The work fulfilled basic criteria of the assignment with only one or two
deficient aspects.
2 The assignment was incomplete and/or was not completed according to the directions; the assignment may also
display a poor level of care or effort.
1 Little or no effort in all aspects of the assignment. Assignment should be re-done.
0 Assignment not done or not handed in.
Late Work/Absent Policy:
-You are expected to make-up missing work when you are absent.
-Assignments handed in after the due-date are considered late. I will accept late work one day after the due date. If you are absent on the day an assignment is due, you may hand it in on the day you return at no penalty. If you are absent for an exam or quiz, there will be a make-up opportunity scheduled.
